Indonesia is a country with a unique geography, composed of an archipelago of 17,000 islands. The country is still facing huge challenges to bring access to electricity to its citizens. There are today more than 30 Million Indonesians living off-grid, in difficult conditions.
The Island of Sumba, located in the eastern part of Indonesia, is an emerging gem for tourism. Its nature’s beauty attracts so many people visiting the island, yet many of the natives are still living in the dark.
Donation under this program will give lights to underprivileged households in Mbakatapidu and Tanggedu Villages in East Sumba.
These two villages have been living the dark, relying only on kerosene lamps.
As many as 200 households will be getting Mobiya lamps this year, enabling productive night activities such as studying, weaving and milling rice possible for them.
